The Red Regiment Band relies on its leaders to facilitate fast learning and to develop peer relationships.
The mission our leaders is to help the band succeed. We follow the suggestions of Dr. Tim Lautenhauser and servant leadership. Leadership positions are not based on seniority and they are not positions of power. To have a leadership position means to give of yourself for the good of your fellow band members. We don't tell others what to do, we show them how and work with them. We are leaders through example, not word. It is a beautiful thing!

Drum Majors:
The band has an apprentice drum major and a head drum major. The apprentice position is usually given to a junior and candidates must try out in front of the band and be able answer questions on the spot. The band votes this person into their position. The apprentice becomes the head drum major the following year.
Leadership
Our leaders serve the band in any way needed from leading sectionals and teaching marching to planning rehearsals and working on conflict resolution. These students should be juniors and seniors, but occasionally we need sophomores to step up as well. We have an extra week of leadership training in which we teach these students how to work with their peers.
Followership
Every member of the band falls under this title. At some point, we all are following. Good followers allow the leadership to lead and facilitate this process by being prepared, focused, and motivated.
